DisciplesNet Worship #568: Easter Sunday (Cobb 04.04.2021)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

The Easter event is that the disciples of Jesus saw Jesus, alive, resurrected. How do we see Jesus today? Pastor Anita uses John 20:1-18 to help us understand how those first seers of Jesus felt and how we can see and feel the presence of Jesus here and now.
Join us for just over 28 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

The Sadducees came to Jesus with a trick question concerning marriage in heaven. Jesus responded by saying that it was the wrong question. What does it mean to say encounter the Risen Lord? Is it simply a doctrine we believe? Is it a statement of faith? Pastor Russ teaches from John 20:1-18, telling the story of the Mary's encounter with the risen Jesus and shows us that our encounter with the Living Christ can mean so much more.

They were trying to trap him. DisciplesNet Worship #351, “Learning from Lazarus” (Grogan 04.02.2017)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here

One of the most amazing stories of Jesus is when he goes to the home of his friend Lazarus, who had died a few days before, and raises him from the dead. This story is only in the Gospel of John. Some people see it literally, others see the telling of Lazarus’ story as a metaphor for the disciples of that time, and others see it through other different lenses.   We invite you to worship today as we look at this passage, and the take away from it all, regardless of how we interpret the story: the love of God, the resurrection of a soul, can bring new life not just in the hear after—but in our everyday situations.

The Bible’s printed words are all about the same size, whether talking about who begat whom, Jesus’ innermost words to his disciples, or the drama of Jesus' last days on earth—the passion story of Christ.  Yet this Sunday is Easter Sunday, and in it Pastor Charles Webb helps us to bring the message to life, listening behind the scenes --eavesdropping on the story.  And in this, being more fully aware of what this Easter message means in our own lives.  Combined with special singing, scripture, prayer—we hope that you will be blessed by being with us in our church without walls this Easter Sunday week.
