Offering Meditation for Proper 18a – 6-September-26

DisciplesNet

6-Sep-26 (Matthew 18:15-28)

Even in difficult situations, Jesus focuses on restoring and building relationships if possible. Likewise, we who follow in Jesus' way need to focus on restoring and building relationships. We do that most of all by showing genuine and authentic love for people, by meeting them where they are and helping them with their real needs and struggles.… Read the rest “Offering Meditation for Proper 18a – 6-September-26”

If there is a singular thing that would show Christian character, what would it be? Would it be clinging to that which is good? Would it be hopefulness, patience, or faithfulness? Pastor Mary Beth speaks to us from Romans 12:9-21 about how love takes the primary spot.
Our worship service is just over 27 minutes of prayer, some favorite hymns, teaching, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

We hope that as you join us for worship you will feel a blessing from being part. Please tell friends, family, and others you know about our online church that is here with doors that are always open, walls as wide as the world, and always room at the table.

Table Meditation (Gospel) for Proper 17 – 30-August-26

DisciplesNet

30-Aug-26 (Matthew 16:21-28)

Jesus showed the truth of his own words, "those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it."  So, at the Table, as you meet our Host, who laid down his life that we might have life with God, let's recommit ourselves to laying down all that stands in the way of our life with God.  … Read the rest “Table Meditation (Gospel) for Proper 17 – 30-August-26”

What comes after confessing Christ as Savior? Watching some of the worst examples might give the idea that being a Christian means judging others and deciding for the world whose beliefs are right and are wrong. Rev. Russ Smith looks at it from another angle, however, preaching from the text of Matthew 16:13-20, of the Good Confession of the disciple Peter.

Table Meditation (Gospel) for Proper 16a – 23-August-26

DisciplesNet

23-August-26 (Matthew 16:13-20)

Jesus commends Peter saying "flesh and blood have not revealed this to you."  Interesting that Jesus himself was revealing God in flesh and blood.  Here at the table, these two symbols, the bread and the cup represent the broken flesh and spilled blood that Jesus gave to open the way for us to be right with God.  … Read the rest “Table Meditation (Gospel) for Proper 16a – 23-August-26”

Jesus warned us that what comes out of our hearts will be us at our best or worst and so we need to examine ourselves and seek to grow what is good within us. How do we pursue and grow the better parts of our nature? Pastor Deb looks at Jesus' words from Matthew 15:10-28 and helps us find our way to "higher ground."
