DisciplesNet Worship #854, Proper 19 (Cobb, 09.13.2026)

Forgiveness. Easy to say. Hard to do. Yet of all the things that Jesus tells us we should be doing, it is second only to love one another (and is a sign of just that. Pastor Anita speaks to us from Matthew 18:21-35 about how to give forgiveness the place it needs to have in our lives.
Our worship service is 30 minutes of prayer, some favorite hymns, teaching, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

We hope that as you join us for worship you will feel a blessing from being part. Please tell friends, family, and others you know about our online church that is here with doors that are always open, walls as wide as the world, and always room at the table.

DisciplesNet Worship #677: Easter 3 – (Shaw 4.23.2023)

Encountering the empty tomb leads to a lot of questions. We can handle those questions in a sort of minimal way, keeping our distance, not letting them really affect us. Or, like Peter, we can enter the empty tomb and face the questions directly. Pastor Bob speaks to us from John 20:1-9 recommending than instead of simply stooping to look in, we should boldly enter into thinking over the resurrection and come to a deep understanding of what it means for us.
Our worship service is 28 minutes of prayer, some favorite hymns, teaching, and communion.
You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. DisciplesNet Worship #452: Epiphany 5 (Shaw 02.03.2019)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Jesus did not choose the best, the brightest, the obvious leaders when he chose his 12 disciples. Just as then, Jesus chooses unlikely people, like us, to be his messengers and representatives in this world. Pastor Bob uses Luke 5:1-11 and shows us how it is Jesus' choice that makes us right for the job and not what we might imagine the qualifications to be.
The worship service is just over 25 minutes long and includes a time of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

DisciplesNet Worship #372, “The Reach of Faith,” (Raley 08.13.2017)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

What happens when God takes us up on what we ask? As we seek to follow Jesus as people of God, we turn our attention today upon a storm that comes up while the disciples are alone in their boat, then Jesus comes to them walking on the water. Pastor Katherine Raley brings special insight to Peter’s actions, told in scripture from Matthew 14:22-33. Worship this week is just over 34 minutes long with opportunities for singing, prayer, scripture, and our message.

As we do every week, our time together includes a time of communion (breaking of the bread) where you may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." We believe that Christ extends the invitation to all, and that we come not because we are wholly righteous, but that we are redeemed.
If you would like to share with us at the table we ask that you prepare a piece of a type of bread for you, and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers are given to extend to where you are.
If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us. (Scroll down for an Order of Worship)

ABOUT OUR DISCIPLES SHEEP:
You may notice in our videos that we have various stuffed sheep with us in worship. To us, these are not toys, but important parts of our church.
It happened this way: When we began producing worship as DisciplesNet in November 2010, one of the first problems we recognized was that when we are speaking to the people on the other end of a camera and internet, we cannot actually see the people to whom we were speaking. It was easy to speak to the other pastors in the room, but as we prayed and preached and spoke, we instead wanted to be reminded of the people for whom we were serving—including people whose best way to attend worship might be online. We wanted to be speaking to them---and as best we could hearing and telling their stories.

So, on a whim, we set some sheep that we’d used for a children’s sermon in front of our speakers, and found that helped! Before we knew it, their number was growing. They spilled over onto the table as we spoke. They have become dear to us and no longer children’s toys— but representations of all of the sheep of God’s pasture, all of God’s children—the real people like you, whom we may not be able to see in real life, but wish never to forget are there, and are each and everyone loved by God more than we can ever comprehend. Those sheep are why we are here.

God bless you, and thank you for joining us!

DisciplesNet Worship #325, “Little is Much” (Lewis 10.16.2016)

It may not have seemed like much to her, but the gift of the heart that Tabitha wove into her work brings her to the forefront of our worship story this week—along with so many others who, like Tabitha, give what they can to God with great love. Worship this week is just over 27 minutes of song, scripture, prayer, praise, and reflection. This week we are especially honored to have the talented Rev. Laurie Lewis as our guest preacher, and Dean Phelps stitching things together in song. Continue reading →

DisciplesNet Worship #316, “Called Christians” (Smith 08.14.2016)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

“Upon this rock, I will build the church, and the gates of hell will not prevail upon it,” Jesus told Peter. Fast forward a couple thousand years later and billions of people across the world are now part of this church. And this church has, and continues to see some of the best and worst that people have to offer. But what does it mean to wear the name Christian? To be called to follow Christ—to be “called Christians”? How can we do better, more like Christ is calling us today? Continue reading →

DisciplesNet Worship #300, “In Spite of Ourselves” (Shaw 04.24.2016)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

“Oh, no, God,” said the disciple Peter, as the disciples were getting their organization together. “I’ve never touched anything unclean like that, and am not going to start now. What? You’ve got to be kidding?” A bit of a paraphrase, perhaps, but this is the scripture from Acts 11 that we’ll be looking at today in worship. This is a special worship for us, number 300, but in every worship we always hope to be about celebrating God and the blessing we have in coming together in Christ to be in community this day. We hope that you will join us with an inspiring message, song, prayer.

DisciplesNet Worship #267, “Just Say It,”(Shaw 09.13.2015)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

The disciple Peter's answer to Jesus was spot on; near perfect. We call it the great confession. Something we'd all hope to copy, and in fact do as we confess Christ as Lord and Savior. But then---well, the world and the tongue are hard to contain. And that same tongue that made the great confession slipped mightily. Just as happens to us, too. We invite you to join us in worship today as we look at the struggles we have, not controlling others, but controlling what comes out of our very own mouth. Continue reading →

DisciplesNet Worship #256, “At Least He Leaped” (Shaw 06.28.2015)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

"Help! We're going to all drown!" may have gone through Jesus' disciples minds that night when the storm came up as they were in their boat. When Jesus came walking toward them, Peter did the unthinkable-- as you'll learn in this message of hope for us as individuals and for the church today. Rev. Bob Shaw is our speaker, using the text Matthew 14: 22-33. Continue reading →

DisciplesNet Worship #249, “Sufficient” (DisciplesNet Phelps 05.10.2015)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

So what all does one have to do, to come to Christ? People and books will tell you many things that you have to believe and do, tests you have to pass. Yet in today’s message, guest preacher Dean Phelps invites us to look at something at the heart of the matter, looking at Matthew 16:13-16. What do you think? How might this look in your life?
Our worship is 26 minutes long, with singing, prayer, scripture, all designed for you to join in as suits you. We hope that you'll be blessed by worshiping with DisciplesNet, finding ways your own faith in God can grow in theses trying times.

As we do every week, our time together includes a time of communion (breaking of the bread) where you may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." Continue reading →
