DisciplesNet Worship #787 Easter 7 – (Huber 06.01.2025)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

Something BIG is at work among Christians, often despite ourselves. Somehow, we keep being called and drawn together even when we think we'd prefer not to be around ‘those’ people, even around other Christians, but ones we may not really like.
Perhaps some of it is in Jesus' prayer for his disciples to be one that he prayed all those years ago, with a special part that especially carries forward even to where we are today. Our scripture today is from John 17:20-26, and our team member Daren Huber asks us to consider special places that help us feel closer to God and to each other. Where might that be for you?
Join us for just over 25 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

Jesus was always watching the edges, to see if someone was forgotten. In the scripture for today, Jesus seeks out a man who had been waiting at the Pool of Siloam to be healed for quite some time. Jesus made sure that he was no longer forgotten.
Pastor Mary Beth speaks to us from John 5:1-9 and shows us how, in the way of Jesus, we can offer new life to those around us.
Join us for just over 29 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. There are many things we do as Christians, but there is only one thing that Jesus said would be the way that others tell that we are his disciples, if we love each other. Pastor Richard speaks to us from John 13:31-35 about how loving each other looks and how it reveals that God is indeed among us.

DisciplesNet Worship #784 Easter 4 – (Shaw 05.11.2025)

Of all the things that Jesus said and taught, one of the most difficult for people to receive and understand was Jesus' relationship to God. In our scripture for today, John 10:22-30, Jesus is again talking about that relationship using the analogy that he is the Good Shepherd whose sheep recognize him for who he is. Pastor Bob speaks to us from these verses and reminds us that our shepherd will always be with us; we are never alone.
Join us for just over 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." One of the standards of this world is that people will seek power over others, but Jesus had a different image of power. Pastor Russ uses the story of Jesus before Pilate and Philippians 2:5-11 to talk about how Jesus shows us how to gain, not power to coerce, but power to do the right thing.

When we hear the story of the man with two sons, we often think about the "prodigal son" and the father. We don't often think about the older son. Pastor Amy speaks to us from Luke 15:1-3 and 11b-32 to help us realize how God's love can speak to those of us who have "been in the household" of faith for a long time and might be jealous of the newer folks.
