DisciplesNet Worship #778 Lent 4 – (Grogan 03.30.2025)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

When we hear the story of the man with two sons, we often think about the "prodigal son" and the father. We don't often think about the older son. Pastor Amy speaks to us from Luke 15:1-3 and 11b-32 to help us realize how God's love can speak to those of us who have "been in the household" of faith for a long time and might be jealous of the newer folks.
Join us for just over 30 minutes of worship, prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, and communion. You may choose to participate or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. As we pray, our prayers extend to where you are. If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.

DisciplesNet Worship #460: Lent 4 Grogan ( 03.31.2019)

to watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

We may be familiar with the story of the Prodigal Son, but we often forget the part about the older brother. Pastor Amy retells the story in Luke 15:1-3, 11b-32 to provide more imaginative details about the older brother and how he might have learned more about his father's love.
The worship service is 30 minutes long and includes a time of prayer, scripture, a number of favorite hymns, preaching as well as communion. You may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that goes beyond earthly boundaries of time, place, and structure, we ask that you prepare a piece of bread of some type and a drink such as grape juice, wine, or water. A Psalm for “Times I Feel Lost”

This is a paraphrase of the 23rd Psalm, intended especially for meditation when you are feeling lost. It was written by Peggy McMahon and appears in her book, Father, Hear My Psalms. The music is "Day by Day", written by Karolina Sandell-Berg in 1865 and arranged and played by Beverly Carmichael Heid.

The words are these:

The Lord is my pathfinder, I shall not lose my way.
He makes me lie down in meadows of summer bloom;
He leads me to still waters where I drink from his cup.

He restores me in purpose; He leads me to find meaning
in the smallest of offerings.

Yea, though I walk through the canyon of deepest dark,
I am not lost.
For the light of your heart's love is never extinguished,
Your nearness is never absent.

You prepare a sanctuary for me in the deep of the canyon walls,
I receive your true Word.
You anoint my head with belongingness,
my heart entrains to the pulse of Your heavenly voice.
I hear You call my name and I shall answer.

Surely all courage and direction shall be with me
all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the presence of the Lord forever.
Amen.

DisciplesNet Worship #100, “How Do You Say ‘Thanks?'” (Phelps, 09.02.2012)

To watch this worship service on YouTube, click here.

We offer a special invitation to our 100th Worship Video. As we were preparing for this we felt profoundly grateful so it seemed natural to take Psalm 100 as our theme. You will see a number of our worship team members and some special guests helping read this in a memorable way.

Our message today looks at saying thanks to God, asking the question, “How do you say thanks?” Rev. Dr. Deb Phelps, our senior minister and founding pastor, brings this inspiring word.
One of our extraordinary blessings comes in this worship in the form of a meditation on gratitude, given for our DisciplesNet viewers by Rev. Dr. Fred Craddock, an old friend and mentor to members of our worship team, and one of many advisors who have helped DisciplesNet make sense of its vision since we got our start in 2010.
