Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah, in Lingala

What happens when you get musicians together with different spoken languages, but they both love God and singing God's praises? You will see that here: they get along just fine. This video is fun to watch unfold, as you see the musicians discover a common language and have a great time sharing in song together.
This video was taken at the DisciplesNet Church office, with Rev. Dean Phelps and visiting ministry partners from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rev. Ilumbe Ndjongo and Oskar Pemkombe (Disciples of Christ in Congo), summer of 2012. The song that they end up singing in Lingala is, in English, Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah.

Greetings!
We invite you to join our worship team and worshippers around the world for this first Sunday in the New Year.  This week's message looks at Jesus, who came to be the light of the world. Rev. Dr. Audrey Borschel brings a message about the wonder of the message of Jesus coming into the world, speaking from John 1:1-14.

Our worship today is 28 minutes long. We hope that you'll join in as we sing familiar hymns and Christmas songs, say the Lord's prayer together. Near the beginning of the worship we have a two-part reading of John's gospel, and hope that you will chose a part and join in.
Each of our worship times include a time of communion (breaking of the bread). This is a time of symbolically remembering Jesus, and the invitation Jesus give for all who will come. The bread and the cup remind us of Jesus' body broken, and blood shed, in love for the people of the world.
If you would like to share with us in this time at the table, then we ask that you prepare a type of bread and a drink, and we pray that as we bless the bread and cup, the blessing will extend to where you are.  If you are unable to eat or drink, you may wish to mental images of joining with us. We invite you to join us for this special weekly worship for the fourth Sunday in Advent, just before Christmas Eve.

This worship has a special message from Rev. Russ Smith about, and the lighting of the fourth candle in the advent wreath. We hope you will join us in a time of prayer and lighting candles, in singing Christmas songs, hearing the Christmas story, and at the end of worship, sharing in communion together.

If you would like to share in communion physically, please make ready a piece of bread or similar food and some type of drink (we use grape juice, but other liquids including wine and water will work). These represent the broken body and the blood of Jesus Christ given on our behalf.
